Dec 13 2016 26743 1 Homes On Tour Worth Talking About
WOW! today's tour was small but mighty with homes ranging from under $650,000 to over $3,000,000... from virtually brand new to over 50 years old.
The first two we saw were out in Clayton.
The home we saw in Oakhurst is a great duet located at 601 Julpin Loop. Priced at $640,000 this home has over 1900 sf and a great floor plan with a lot of windows opening to the corner lot with plenty of mature shrubs and trees. There are a ton of things that make Clayton attractive to buyers ... one is the little town of Clayton itself which is very family centric. Another is that it is simply much quieter out there than most communities closer in. This is a great home ... you should take a serious look if you are considering Clayton for your next home.
The second home we checked out in Clayton was 5593 Southbrook Dr. When doing a google search you have to know that it is the portion of Southbrook off El Camino. Priced at $799,000 this 2 story, 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath has been totally remodeled and expanded. With over 2,000 sf the home has a huge formal dining room, a terrific living room, a beautiful kitchen with a walk-in pantry to die for. And then there is the backyard ... like a park with a solar heated pool and not a blade of grass out of place. The home has solar electricity that are owned (not leased) and the owner says the average electric bill is $7 / mo. And that is with the pool. The home backs up to the creek but the owner went to FEMA and got this property (and all the properties on the street) removed from the requirement for flood insurance (that is an ongoing savings of about $2,000 / yr. This home is perfect for someone who wants the luxury of country living at it's best with while saving a chunk of change every month.
Next we headed back to Walnut Creek and caught 4 really excellent homes.
The first one we checked out was 173 Rock Oak Ct in The Woodlands, priced at $899,000. With over 1850 sf and a huge yard this is perfect for someone who wants a few projects. It needs a roof, some pest work and some remodeling. The good news is there is some great upside potential since the same floor plan is now pending WAY over the list price of $950,000. They are looking at offers as they come in so step lively.
This next home is for the EICHLER fans out there (count me as one of them) and is located at 255 Clyde Drive. This home is the classic large Atrium plan with over 2,400 sf with a gorgeous pool. The walls of floor to ceiling glass are amazing. Priced at $1,299,000 this home has been marvelously remodeled with every detail fitting the ideal Eichler vision. The plan incorporates the Master bedroom and the living room at the "adult" end of the home, while the 3 secondary bedrooms are off the family room. The 2-zone radiant heating system works like a charm and this time of year the warm floors are delightful ... If you are an EICHLER fan move quickly they are looking at offers on the 15th.
Last but not least is the sprawling mediterranean villa priced at $3,600,000 this home is beautifully detailed (as it should be). Even though it has over 7,500 sf the rooms are very comfortable and well scaled to accommodate both large groups and smaller dinner parties. The main floor contains the Master Suite and the Living-Dining-kitchen-family rooms, each distinct, but still free flowing. The kitchen has a central island that is big enough to dance on (no joke), which means that it could handle a catered cocktail party for hundreds. Downstairs includes the secondary bedrooms, a second family room / media space, a billiards room, wet bar, and a huge conditioned wine frig. Off the central entry courtyard there is also a 1 bedroom casita with a full (and gorgeous) kitchen and adjoining living room... and did I mention the views. To die for. looking East, North and West. There is enough going on inside the house that the view doesn't over-power, but man when you take a closer look it's nice ... really nice. If this fits your price range, then you should give this one some serious consideration (there are 41 homes in the East Bay now on the market that are more expensive ... including one where you need to add a 0 to this plus some change). The details of this home are not available except through an agent so I am not able to post more info ... feel free to text me and we can work out the details.
As always, if you are committed to an agent, then call them up and take a look at the homes that will work for you. If you aren't committed to an agent I would love to help you find the right home for you ... one of these or any one of the other 900 or so available in my service area. Just let me know.

"I've worked with a number of agents and Steve is by far the best. His skills as an agent far exceeded those of the agents I've worked with in the past. He is professional, reliable, honest, knowledgeable, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Steve is an example of going above and beyond. He helped me steer clear of a couple problematic properties and advocated on my behalf every step of the process. Since I left town soon after I saw the property, the entire process from offering to closing was done while I was remote. Steve promptly resolved issues that came up. This included figuring out a loan issue, taking multiple trips to thoroughly inspect the property, and repairing an item that the seller failed to disclose. I'm grateful to have had Steve as my agent and definitely want to work with him again in the future."
