This week it became apparent that the caliber of the homes on tour has improved substantially in recent months. It's always been reasonably high but the quality continues to improve.
This week I went by 6 homes ... 2 in Lafayette and 4 in Walnut Creek ranging from $985,000 to $1,795,000. All were very nice ... BUT 2 were exceptional.
The featured home this week is 1063 Wiget Lane, almost at the upper end of the street (think very little traffic) this home is very tidy on the outside and now has a spectacular open great room with beautiful finish materials and large windows opening to the back yard (you really have to see the interior photos to get an idea of the space so click on the address link). The upstairs bedrooms and both baths are very nicely remodeled with the latest, trendy materials and finishes. Priced at $998,000 this home is Open this weekend ... tell Jeff you saw the blog if you stop by. Hurry on this one. THIS IS AN EXCEPTIONAL VALUE.
For a bit less money check out 160 Norlyn Dr off Walnut Blvd is priced at $985,000. The kitchen has been very nicely remodeled including gray stone counters. The kitchen and dining room both look into a spacious and very private backyard... over on the huge side yard is a pool, which apparently needs work. This home is on a very quiet country lane in a classic early 50's neighborhood.
880 Autumn Drive in Northgate is priced at $1,225,000 has 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and an added, large family room done as part of a major remodel both upstairs and downstairs. This plan was originally 5 bedrooms, however the owners opened on of the bedrooms into the Master as part of a complete remodel of the bedroom and bath. With almost 12,000 sf for the lot size there is an expansive backyard. The home has a leased solar system that must be assumed but the investment apparently has reduced the PGE costs by substantially more than the lease amount.
847 Las Trampas in Lafayette sits on a down sloping lot, but there are a lot of decks and a level area on the side for play structure or a nice patio. The living-dining-kitchen function well as a great room and the feel is reminiscent of a mountain cabin surrounded by oaks with a filtered view of the valley. Also in Lafayette is 3939 Canyon Rd off Upper Happy Valley Rd, near Happy Valley Rd, priced at $1,795,000. This home is literally up a country lane and then up a private driveway, but at the end of the journey is essentially a level lot with a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, single story home with just under 2700 sf on 8/10ths of an acre. Even on a dreary day this home is light and bright with wonderful vistas. It has an easy flow to the open plan with the kitchen as command central. Last but certainly not least is 120 Twin Peaks Dr above the Parkmead neighborhood in Walnut Creek. Priced at $1,295,000 this home has over 3000 sf and sits on over 1/3 of an acre.
